The developer has agreed to keep Islands of Nyne as free-to-play on Steam. It officially launched in July 2018, but now they’ve decided that the upkeep is just to expensive. Their only game received Kickstarter funds of $50,000 in 2016, and the game has been in development ever since. On the Steam Community Page, the developer of Battle Royale game Islands of Nyne, stated that they will be closing down due to financial costraints. This is what has happened to indie developer Define Human Studios.
So much time, energy and funds are put into your development company and invested in creating a game, and then you have to say goodbye. It’s never good to hear of a developer closing its doors, especially for one that showed such promise.
